Black stoneware decorative bowl
LUNA | Modern texture centrepiece
Luna is a half moon shaped decorative bowl which has been hand carved in order to create a delicate yet strong lace of clay which somehow seems to defy gravity.
Luna, meaning “moon” in Italian is one of the most intricate designs as it’s creation process requires an incredible amount of patience and steadiness. While at it’s unfired state this structure is incredibly fragile and therefore it requires the most delicate touch. Despite being such a difficult design to make I love the contrast of it’s fragile nature at it’s unfired stage and the contrasting strength that this stoneware clay gives to this piece once it has s been fired.
Luna represents the transformation from a state of complete frailty to one of fortitude and durability. Having gone through a severe childhood trauma and having struggled with my mental health for most of my life I have often been described as fragile, and rightly so. I lived in a state of fragility for a long time as I didn’t know I had the ability to change. However through therapy, a lot of hard work and an innate perseverance I went through my “firing” process and I witnessed my own transformation into a state of strength and power. I now believe that we can all change, as long as we’re willing to put in the hours.
Luna is part of the Nebo collection which is all hand built in black stoneware clay and baked on 1240 degrees Celsius and therefore extremely strong, resistant and dishwasher safe.
